‘PB & The Buck’ wins Big Thinkers Pitch at Animae Caribe

The highly anticipated moment has arrived as Shane Lee Kit emerges as the victor of the recently held Animae Caribe Big Thinkers Pitch competition with his uproarious series, “PB & The Buck.” After sifting through an impressive array of 58 submissions from creators across the Caribbean and its diaspora, Shane’s pitch captivated the hearts of the distinguished panel of judges. This panel, including Big Thinkers team members Elliott Palmer and Thomas Stogdon, acclaimed Actor-Director Tim Reid, Television Programming Manager

TTT Limited – Diane Robertson, and FilmTT General Manager – Leslie Ann Wills Caton, recognized the exceptional potential in Shane’s work.

Shane Lee Kit’s winning pitch showcases the remarkable creativity and humor that the Caribbean region has to offer. PB and the Buck is an adult animated sitcom about two best friends, trying to run a rum shop in Trinidad and Tobago. It stars Papa Bois the greatest of the folklore characters and his best friend Winston the Buck. Together they face the evils of modern-day life…like how to make rent. Shane Lee Kit’s pitch stood out not only for its comedic brilliance but also for its unique portrayal of Caribbean life, culture, and humor. The judging panel, composed of industry veterans, was unanimous in its decision to award Shane as the champion of the Big Thinkers Pitch. In response to his win, Shane expressed his gratitude and his hopes for the future. “I am so grateful to have been selected out of all the great stories pitched during the big thinkers competition. Our region has so much talent and diverse narratives to offer the world. Knowing that this project now has the potential to share a bit of our Caribbean culture and comedy to a global audience is a dream come through for me. I’m excited to work and learn with Thomas, Elliot and their team at Big Thinkers. I know they will help guide this project to the next level. PB and the Buck to the world!”

Elliott Palmer, a member of the Big Thinkers team, commented, “It’s been an honor and a privilege to witness the full force of the creativity within the Caribbean, especially where Big Thinkers is concerned. PB & The Buck ticks so many boxes in terms of a project that encapsulates the spirit and culture of the region and we can’t wait to get started on bringing Shane’s vision to life.” Shane’s win is not just a personal achievement; it’s a win for the entire creative sector in the Caribbean. It sets a benchmark for innovative, high-quality content that resonates with the cultural heritage of the Caribbean.
