Exploring AI, Creativity and the Future of Human Work

As Animae Caribe celebrates twenty-five years of advancing the Caribbean creative industries, the festival is expanding one of the most important conversations of our time: the impact of Artificial Intelligence on creativity, work, culture, and society.Through a strategic partnership with the Caribbean Emergence Institute for the hosting of the first Algorithmacy Global Conference 2026, the festival will bring together global thought leaders, researchers, policymakers, technology innovators, and creative professionals to examine how artificial intelligence is transforming the way people create, collaborate, learn, and work.Scheduled for October 28th to 31st 2026 in Trinidad and Tobago, this landmark event is poised to be a true gamechanger for the region, redefining how the Caribbean engages with innovation, creativity, and the future of industry.

One of the leads will be internationally recognized AI ethicist, data scientist, and educator Renee Cummings. Known globally for her work on responsible AI, ethics, innovation, and social impact, Renee has become one of the most influential voices helping governments, businesses, and communities understand the opportunities and risks presented by emerging technologies. While Animae Caribe provides the region's premier platform for animation, digital media, and creative entrepreneurship, the first Algorithmacy Global Conference 2026 will contribute a global perspective on how algorithmic systems and AI are reshaping industries, institutions, and human relationships. Together, the two initiatives will explore a central question; How can we harness artificial intelligence to expand economic opportunities, and shape a future where technology serves humanity rather than replaces it.

About the first Algorithmacy Global Conference 2026 hosted by the Caribbean Emergence Institute

The Algorithmacy Global Conference 2026is the world's first global conference dedicated to algorithmacy - the competency through which a worker coordinates with another human through an algorithmic third party, exploring how people, organisations, and societies increasingly coordinate, collaborate, and create value through algorithmic systems and artificial intelligence. The conference brings together researchers, practitioners, industry leaders, educators, policymakers, and communities to examine the future of work, learning, governance, creativity, and human agency in an AI-enabled world.

About the Caribbean Emergence Institute

The Caribbean Emergence Institute, the education arm of The Rose Foundation is a governance, innovation, and enterprise development organisation, committed to strengthening institutions, supporting entrepreneurship, and building the human and organisational capacity required for sustainable Caribbean development.

The Creative Economy Focus at Animae Caribe Festival

The second part of the programme turns its attention to the creative economy. The reality is that the region begins at a disadvantage. We have smaller markets, limited funding, fewer specialized training opportunities, and less access to advanced technology than many larger countries. Yet we also possess something incredibly valuable: creativity, culture, storytelling, and adaptability. If approached strategically, AI could help Caribbean creators punch above their weight, allowing small teams to produce global-quality content, access international markets, and build sustainable creative businesses faster than ever before. To explore these possibilities, Animae Caribe will host an exciting panel featuring creatives and executives from Sony Pictures Animation, Disney, Caribbean studios, digital entrepreneurs, educators, and emerging creators.

As Animae Caribe celebrates 25 years of building the Caribbean creative sector, we believe this is one of the most important conversations our industry can have. AI will undoubtedly change the rules of the game, but with the right skills, partnerships, and mindset, Caribbean creators can do more than survive the change they can lead it. The future is being written right now. Join the conversation and help shape it.
