In celebration of our 20th Anniversary, we are pleased to announce the Animae Caribe | bmobile 2021 Stopmo-Mobile Competition.
The competition is open to aspiring filmmakers across the Caribbean and is open to creators, 12 years and up.
Create your own stop motion video of 30 – 45 seconds, with your mobile phone and win great prizes! All sponsored by bmobile.
All you have to do is create – submit – collect votes – and WIN!
Submit stop-motion clips with a minimum length of 30 seconds and maximum length of 45 seconds. These must be produced using smartphone/mobile device technology only.
Stop motion is a niche style that has been growing in popularity despite often being classified as “old school.” It is attributed to the likes of popular films from award-winning companies like Aardman Animation and Laika. These include The Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline, Kubo and the Two Strings, Missing Link and Chicken Run.
Past Animae Caribe guest and animation director from LAIKA Studios in Oregon will give an online masterclass and head the Judging Panel for selection of the winners.
The deadline for submission is October, 25th 2021
Brad Schiff is an American stop-motion animation supervisor. Known for his works at Laika as an animation supervisor in acclaimed films such as ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls and Kubo and the Two Strings for which he received an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects nomination at the 89th Academy Awards.
Brad is one of our special guests at Animae Caribe, having supported student animation programmes with the University of Trinidad and Tobago and our local community with exciting training and film screenings of his work.
He comes to us this year in this special video interview to talk about how you can best approach this challenge, with our special host, Anuskha Sonai, Festival Coordinator and CEO of Creative Tech Hub Caribbean.
